What is Inchworm?
Inchworm is a morning-only summer program at the Scarsdale Congregational Church Nursery School.
Who is eligible to attend Inchworm?
Children who will be entering a threes or fours program in the fall, as well as children entering kindergarten in September 2024, are eligible. Please note: Your child must turn three years old by December 31, 2024 in order to attend Inchworm. No exceptions will be made.
What are the program days and hours?
Inchworm is a four-day-a-week program—Mondays through Thursdays. There is no class on Fridays. The day begins at 9:15 a.m. with staggered dismissal at 11:45 a.m. for the youngest children (2s and 3s) and 12:00 noon for the older children (4s and 5s).
When is Inchworm in session for Summer 2023?
Session 1: July 1 – July 3 (closed 7/4) / July 8 – July 11 / July 15 – July 18
Session 2: July 22 – July 25 / July 29 – August 1 / August 5 – August 8
How are the children placed into groups at Inchworm?
Children are placed into one of two groups at Inchworm. Generally, the two and three-year-old children are in one group and the four and five-year-old children are in another. Each class is limited to 12-14 children per session.
Who is the staff at Inchworm?
The director of the Inchworm program is Ms. Melissa DiCostanzo who is also our director at SCCNS. We are also fortunate that our staff – Ms. Michele Santangelo, Ms. Lauren Hart, Ms. Kristen Retta, and Ms. Cynthia DeBruin – will be joining us again this summer. Each group is staffed with two adults who are professional teachers at SCCNS. We also have several high school students volunteer as counselors-in-training and assist us during the summer.

What is the typical Inchworm day like?
Each day at Inchworm includes indoor play, arts and crafts, stories, games and snack time. In addition, there are special activities such as music with Ms. Anne, and gym activities. There is also an outdoor playground and sprinkler play (weather permitting).
Each week at Inchworm features a different theme, such as pirates, camping, gardening, and sports. The daily activities and crafts will be geared toward that week’s theme.
What is the tuition?
Tuition is $695.00 for Session 1 (closed 7/4), $755.00 for Session 2, or $1,450 for both sessions.
How many weeks am I required to register for?
There is a three-week minimum registration requirement (i.e., one session). Once invoices are sent, payments must be made in full.
Can I delete or swap sessions for a refund once I have registered and paid for Inchworm?
No. Inchworm does not provide refunds. Once you have registered and selected a session/sessions for Inchworm, you will be unable to request a refund or change sessions. We begin planning, staffing, and purchasing supplies during the school year in order to prepare for our summer program. We prepare for Inchworm during the school year based directly on the enrollment information provided at the time of registration.
Because of our no refund policy, please be certain to register for the session(s) that you know your child will be able to attend. Even if you are only able to attend a portion of a session (such as two of the three weeks), you still need to register for the full session.
Can I add an additional session once I have registered?
Yes. Before or during the summer, you may enroll your child for an additional session of Inchworm. However, because there is a limit of 12-14 children per class/per session, we may not be able to accommodate your child if the additional session is already full.
When can I register for Summer 2024?
Current SCCNS families may begin registering at 10:00 am Wednesday, February 29th. Inchworm registration will then be open to the public beginning March 6th. Please note registration is on a first come first serve basis, and payment must be received by the school within 24 hours to secure your child’s spot. Similar to school registration, current SCCNS families will receive a link via email to register on the morning of February 29th, and payment is accepted via check or PayPal. As a reminder, PayPal payments incur a 3% processing fee which will be noted in the registration email.
If my child attends SCCNS, do I still need to submit another medical record for Inchworm registration?
No. If a current updated medical record is on file with SCCNS, then you do not need to submit one for Inchworm. However, the forms are only valid for one year. If your child’s birthday falls in the spring or summer, you will need to submit an updated form to us.
