What is Inchworm?
Inchworm is a morning-only summer program at the Scarsdale Congregational Church Nursery School.

Who is eligible to attend Inchworm?
Children who will be entering a threes or fours program in the fall, as well as children entering kindergarten in September 2021, are eligible. Please note: Your child must turn three years old by December 31, 2021 in order to attend Inchworm. No exceptions will be made.

What are the program days and hours?
Inchworm is a four-day-a-week program—Mondays through Thursdays. There is no class on Fridays. The day begins at 9:15 a.m. with staggered dismissal at 11:45 a.m. for the youngest children (2s and 3s) and 12:00 noon for the older children (4s and 5s).

When is Inchworm in session for Summer 2021?
Session 1: June 28 – July 1  /  July 6 – July 8  /  July 12 – July 15
Session 2: July 19 – July 22  /  July 26 – July 29  /  August 2 – August 5

How are the children placed into groups at Inchworm?
Children are placed into one of two groups at Inchworm. Generally, the two and three-year-old children are in one group and the four and five-year-old children are in another class. For summer 2021, each group will be limited to 12 children per session.

Who is the staff at Inchworm?
The director of the Inchworm program is Ms. Melissa DiCostanzo who is also our director at SCCNS. We are fortunate that Ms. Michele, Ms. Lauren, Ms. Jackie, and Ms. Cynthia will be returning this summer as our head teachers. Each group is staffed with two adults who are professionally staffed teachers at SCCNS.

What is the typical Inchworm day like?
Each day at Inchworm includes indoor play, arts and crafts, stories, games and snack. In addition, there is a special activity every day, such as music with Ms. Anne and gym activities with Jeannine Palermo. There is also outdoor playground and sprinkler play, whenever the weather permits.

Each week at Inchworm features a different theme, such as pirates, camping, gardening, and sports. The daily activities and crafts will be geared toward that week’s theme.

What is the tuition?
Tuition is $625.00 for Session 1, $675.00 for Session 2, or $1,300 for both sessions.

In the event that an entire class needs to quarantine due to exposure to Covid-19, SCCNS will refund 40% of the daily tuition for days that camp is missed.  For current/future SCCNS students, this refund will be processed in the form of a credit towards future tuition. For non-SCCNS students or SCCNS alumni, the refund will be processed in the form of a check for the total amount of the refund, which will be processed as soon as possible after camp is over.

How many weeks am I required to register for?
There is a three-week minimum registration requirement (i.e., one session). At the time of registration payments must be made in full.

Can I delete or swap sessions for a refund once I have registered and paid for Inchworm?
No. Inchworm does not provide refunds. Once you have registered for Inchworm and selected a session/sessions, you cannot later delete or change sessions for a refund. We begin planning, staffing, and purchasing supplies during the school year in order to prepare for our summer program. Our preparations are based directly on the enrollment information provided during registration.

Because of our no refund policy, please be certain to register for the session(s) that you know your child will be able to attend. Even if you are only able to attend a portion of a session (such as two of the three weeks), you still need to register for the full session.

Can I add an additional session once I have registered?
Yes. Before or during the summer, you may enroll your child for an additional session of Inchworm. However, because there is a limit of 12 children per class per session, we may not be able to accommodate your child if the additional session is already full.

When can I register for Summer 2021?
Current SCCNS families may begin registering on Monday, March 8th until Friday, March 12th. After Monday, March 22nd, Inchworm registration is open to the public. Please note registration is on a first come first serve basis.

If my child attends SCCNS, do I still need to submit another medical record for Inchworm registration?
No. If a current updated medical record is on file with SCCNS, then you do not need to submit one for Inchworm. However, the forms are only valid for one year. If your child’s birthday falls in the spring or summer, you will need to submit an updated form to us.

Where can I get additional information?
Please feel free to contact Melissa DiCostanzo, Director of Inchworm, at sccnschool@gmail.com or 914-723-2440.
