Carissa is a graduate of Manhattanville College’s Dual Degree Honors Program with a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood and Special Education, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. She has had many early childhood experiences, including working as a behavioral support specialist and student teaching in a first grade ICT classroom. These experiences have confirmed her desire to work with young children, especially children with special needs. Carissa believes that all children have the ability to learn and grow when provided with appropriate supports, challenges, and experiences that promote the development of the whole child. Outside of the classroom, Carissa enjoys spending time with her family and doing a variety of creative crafts, such as pyrography and paper quilling. Carissa is excited to have become a part of the SCCNS community and looks forward to the rewarding experiences that will come along with being a 2’s teacher!
